Coby “Jacoba” Wikselaar, I-ACT Certified Colon Hydrotherapist
Greetings, Dear Ones! My name is Jacoba Wikselaar, and I am honored and excited to work with you as your colon hydrotherapist.
I am an I-ACT-certified colon hydrotherapist who has spent nearly two decades learning about the human body in one way or another. Spurred by an innate feeling that the human heart is naturally inclined toward care and creativity, I’ve always been drawn to working in fields that support us in feeling better in our bodies, spirits, and communities. My focus has ranged from housing access advocacy, to menstrual literacy, to studying foundational principles of ‘being well’ in the world.
The quality of the relationships we cultivate with ourselves and the world around us is inseparable from our quality of life and experience of our bodies. I remain hopeful and curious that our individual healing work helps lead us all toward a future of collective care. I continue to discover that our physical struggles are also potent teachers, trying to direct us toward being at home in our bodies and telling us what might not be working so that we can shift how we are living with intention.
My own life path has entailed a variety of chronic health challenges, and while it has not always been easy, I am grateful to be able to connect with clients with an understanding of how daunting and sometimes lonely it can be to try and thrive in today’s world. So often, dis-ease or feeling unwell gets internalized as a sign that something about us is intrinsically wrong, when often, we are just experiencing the impact of living in a dominant culture that hasn’t prioritized care and respect toward people, animals, Earth, and the beautiful complexity of life.
A few years ago, I was invited into the practice of colon hydrotherapy by the wonderful Yadi Flannery, one of Santa Fe’s beloved colon hydrotherapists! With over three decades of experience as a bodyworker and colon hydrotherapist, getting to apprentice with her is a great gift in my life. I knew after my first colonic that I wanted to work with the modality, and I am delighted to work with such potent water medicine!
I also currently work for and learn from the incredible functional medicine clinician, Elke Kniss (PA, CCN, CFMC). I strongly suggest checking out her website to learn more about her and her work, as her offerings are a treasure here in Santa Fe. Colonics tend to be the most impactful and supportive when paired with broader lifestyle and dietary changes, and Elke works with clients to create highly personalized health plans for each person’s unique body.
The more I attune to my body, the greater capacity I find for living with joy and integrity, and I’d love to be a part of your journey, whatever that entails.
